StreamTV has been designed applying a maximum of eco-design rules aimed at reducing the volume of digital data transferred and thus reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Responsible Streaming rules are as follows:
Integration - Adaptative streaming
- If the video is playing in the background (not visible), only the audio is streamed
- Playback bandwidth limitation ("throttling")
- No autoplay
- No suggested content / "content you could like"
Content production and management - Adaptation of quality (resolution and frame rate) to the nature or destination of the content
- Control over publications, with the option of archiving or deleting them at any time
- Limit the number of encodings to the strict minimum

click here Streamlike's administration console details the daily volumes of GHG emitted by the servers, networks and terminals used to broadcast this webTV's videos. In this way, it is possible to track the evolution of these emissions, and find out how much CO2 will be sequestered by planting trees.
Incidentally, the datacenter that hosts WebTV and all the videos is carbon-neutral.
